Marcel and Danielle’s wedding
It’s not often that I get to be the second shooter at a wedding. Normally I’m the main shooter. So when Anthea asked me to assist her with Marcel and Danielle’s wedding, I thought it would be great, an opportunity to get some fun shots, but also an opportunity to experiment.
Anthea met Marcel and Danielle through her church group. They didn’t have the biggest budget for their wedding. Sometimes these smaller events are much better than big over-the-top weddings.
I met Anthea at her place in Newlands and together we travelled to the grooms house where I was dropped off. Anthea headed to the brides house and we would join up again after a few hours at the Kingdom Hall in Landsdowne. The wedding ceremony was attended by close friends and family and afterwards we headed to the Ardene Gardens in Claremont for some more photos with close family. Unfortunately the gardens were quite busy, so we moved on with the bride and groom to the Liesbeek Park green corridor for some photos of the two of them.
After about half an hour the bride and groom headed back to the reception venue in Athlone. Anthea and I stopped at her place for a quick glass of water before following on to the reception venue. The reception was attended by a small group of family and friends and was nice and informal. After a few speeches and dinner, Marcel and Danielle took to the dance floor for their first dance.
Anthea and I continued documenting the rest of the evening and worked on the necessary group shots, and after we were confident we got we needed we said goodbye and headed home. It was a long day, but a happy day.
